August week 2 Dev-Journal


Hello people, Dara here...

I decided to share a dev journal here and on our patreon page every week, and share a small devlog daily in our discord server. I’ve been working on some new stuff that will enhance the visual experience of animations on some quests, after fight scenes and dialogues. Now that Morte and I are full time working on this project, we’ve wanted to make some reworks on our previous scenes.

Added:

-New S-Move mechanic with a quick time event.

Now when your enemy finally destroys all your willpowers, she grabs you and performs an S-Move (Special Move). Yeah that was already in there but from now on there won’t be a dialogue when you’re being s-moved, instead you need to press space (or just the screen if you’re using mobile) repeatedly to escape from her move. If you cannot escape, she will punish you. Every opponent will have a punishment scene that you end up seeing when you fail in the QTE. So far I upgraded 3 of our side quest enemies. -Troublemaker QTE

Bluemoon cult already had their very long sequence of a punishment scene, so we created 2 new scenes for Troublemaker and Rosanna, they include 40 animations and 2000+ words.

New Effects

-Screen flashes purple when you lose willpower.

-Screen flashes purple and zooms in when she’s about to perform an S-Move.

-Background light turns down to create a focus on the characters.

Replayability

-These three new scenes will always be replayable in the Fighting Grounds.

-You can find Fighting Grounds in the Sandsworth, it’s just above the Inn. Inside, you can click on the enemy of which you want to replay the scene.

 

Fixed:

-Dialogue boxes. Now they’re standart in every scene, and they are transparent.

 

-Loading Screen and scene transition fade animation.

-Fixed UI bugs in Gym, docks and depot scene.

-Fixed movement bug in Tavern.

-Fixed Dialogue UI in every scene. There won't be different dialogues panel in other scenes.

 

 

Being worked on:

Two more quests “A Challenger in town” and “What a Mess”

“What a Mess” quest also features another mini-game, collect items mechanic, where player drags and drops objects into a container to complete the quest.

New gym: Destor will be able to train his strength, agility, vitality and etc. in the gym. This will require Sandsworth energy only. So it is another challenge to manage your energy and days, it will be hard to fight, work and train in the same day. Stats will effect the way Destor wears armor, weapons and the damage as well

Conclusion:

Since this is our very first game, we have so much spaghetti code in the background, while adding new features and scenes, I still have to do some code cleanup and changes at the same time. We are aware of our journey's complexities, and we're excited to share how we're turning challenges into experience. Be ready for new gameplay mechanics and captivating scenes that not only enrich the experience but also add a layer of replayability. Amid these transformative strides, we're also dedicated to refining the game's aesthetics and UI for a more polished look and smoother interaction.
