Taunts, tutorials, new quests and many more!


Dear patrons!
As we are getting closer to a patron only build for Realm of Dominance, we are sweeping bugs and adding new features. We have started this update months ago, just to change the combat system but now we are here. To make RoD a complete game with solid gameplay loop, we have changed everything in the game.
Actually we were so close to publishing last week, however, Dara and I decided that Charisma was too weak in terms of combat in the game. Therefore, we added new taunts and balanced the stats.

 

Now, we have four different taunts that can be used against opponents in battle.

 
Self Praise: Increases your crowd acceptance. 
Mock: Humiliates the opponent and inflicts "Humiliated" mood. 

Tease: Angers your opponent and inflicts "Enraged" mood.
Terrify: Scares your opponent and inflicts "Terrified" mood.

All these moods apply different debuffs to your opponents but beware, the game is completely symmetrical, so your opponents can use these too.
The more charisma you have, the better Destor will use these taunts effectively. By the way, we have crowd acceptance now. Which will decide how much money you will earn from battles and many more bonuses.

 

The skills screen was embedded in a button in our circular UI design and it was tiring to click on it everytime when you need to cast a skill, so we took them out of there and placed them in a more reachable place.

 

We have a new quest that teaches how to improve skills and where to go when you need to train your stats. This way, the player will be able to easily understand the task at hand.

 

We have also changed the action points and turned it into a clock. Time passes as you use actions such as training, working and doing stuff around Sandsworth. You can also track the time of the day in the middle of the clock screen.

 

We have finished implementing the tutorial system. Now, if you haven't turned off the hints, you will get pop-ups (can easily be closed) that teaching you the interface or how the game is played. This was a feature we lacked, so the new players were struggling. Hopefully, this will help them understand the game easily. 

 What's more?
-Four new action animations added for taunts.
-Taunt dialogue bubbles added and the characters say stuff to each other when they use taunts.
-Item balancing, combat balancing and economy balancing has been done.
-Sound design and sound management in the game is being reworked.
-Combat animations are polished (And this process stil continues)
-Quest dialogues are reviewed and fixed many typos there.
-Some quest lines are changed, they are now more compatible with the new game loop.

We have officially finished all the work that needs to be done for this update. Now we are implementing the sound changes and will be publishing the patron only build as soon as its finished. In the meantime, we will be polishing things left and right. By the way, this update is not a final one as we couldn't achieve some of our goals that we set up. We still have a lot of work to do.
